Salas O'Brien Engineers, Inc. was founded during the energy crisis of 1975. In the logo, the sun and earth are held together in balance by the black and yellow background. The philosophy was that engineering solutions must balance many factors: cost, maintenance, performance, size... We take all of these into account while making the best, most prudent and intelligent decisions for building owners. We listen to what clients want, what their priorities are, and then take appropriate action. This balance is symbolized by the balance in the solar system. We respect the warmth, light, and energy of the sun. While the company has evolved beyond an energy services company, the basic philosophy is as true today as ever. We listen, balance alternatives, and do the best for our clients. There are no cookie cutter designs here -- every design is tailor-made.

Salas O'Brien was founded during the energy crisis of 1975. While our logo has been refreshed, the message is as important today as it was when it was originally developed.

The sun and earth are still held together in balance as the original logo was, but with two different colors. Instead of the black and yellow in the original design, they are held in balance with blue and green, the two primary colors of the earth. The blue represents the water and the sky while the green represents life and vitality on earth. Green also has an obvious association with "green design" and sustainability. This embodies the framework of Salas O'Brien as we have focused on sustainability since the company was founded by Dan O'Brien in his garage in 1975. We were the first sustainable engineering company. While becoming "sustainable" has gained popularity over the past few years, Salas O'Brien has been providing sustainable designs and focusing on making the world around us more sustainable for over 30 years.

Visually the earth and the sun have changed slightly to show even more balance between them. The sun is placed in front of the earth not to block it, but rather to stress the importance of balance between them in the solar system. The Sun is very important to the life on earth, but the earth too has importance to the Sun's existence and placement in the solar system. This delicate balance is represented by the positioning of the earth and the sun as the two go hand in hand.

Energy is represented by the rays of the sun. We respect the warmth, light, and energy of the sun. This energy is also evident in our team. We are very passionate about what we do. For over 30 years, our goal has always been and will continue to "provide our clients with sustainable designs that achieve life cycle cost savings that also minimize the impact to the environment we live in.
